A new publication on Tasmanian Postmarks and Post Office openings and closings

“Tasmanian Postal History: Post Office and Datestamp Compendium”

in 2018 we published John Hardinge’s major work on Tasmanian datestamps and Post Office openings and closings. The book contains all information on Tasmanian postmarks as recorded by John Hardinge over some 30 years including rarity ratings.  We sold out very quickly and due to public demand, we are now publishing some of the key chapters though we will not be in a position to re-print John’s original publication.

Contents

  • Postmark Types – each postmark type illustrated and described. Two new types have been added – the First Day of Issue type and the Timeclock type
  • How to use the tables – abbreviations and colour code
  • The “A – Z” tables – these  list every Tasmanian handheld datestamp and manuscript endorsement for the 19th and 20th Centuries. They show early and late dates, Post Office openings and closings, rarity ratings for each datestamp and notes including the number of copies known in the case of very rate items. 7 pages of up-dates have been included.
